The United States Men’s National Team ran over Paraguay on Friday in their World Cup opener at SoFi Stadium, but concern struck when captain and team leader Christian Pulisic left the game early.

Pulisic, after being the star man for Team USA and creating multiple scoring chances, was not on the field for the second half and came off instead.
It was concerning, given how crucial he was to the team’s attacks, but since the score was 3-0, his absence was not a devastating blow.
According to the Fox Broadcast, Pulisic signaled to his family that he “was okay,” quelling concerns during the game. But after the match, the head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, clarified what happened.

“He got a kick in the calf and at the end of the first half he started to feel tight and we didn’t want to take any risks,” Pochettino said. “It was difficult for him to walk. But [we] hope that it’s not a big issue and he can be ready for the next one.”
For his own account, Pulisic also did not put too much into his absence, making it sound like a preventive move rather than a necessary one.
“I just got a bit of a kick first half, so I’m really hoping that it’s nothing,” Pulisic said. “Taking a little bit of precaution today, but I’m hoping I’ll be fine the next few days.
“Just the back of my leg, my calf area. But I’ve had similar things before and I’m staying positive. I don’t think it’s anything at all.”

Pulisic will be monitored very closely in the lead-up to the game, and if the USA is up big early, he could make another early exit to keep him upright.
The last Group D match will be on June 25th against Turkey back at SoFi Stadium.
