Oregon QB Dante Moore Admits to Flaw Against Oklahoma State

There's no reason why this should be a storyline before Game 3, but the Oregon Ducks are working overtime to correct a flaw with the offense that should have been corrected before their season opener against Boise State.

(If not before playing Indiana in the College Football Playoff semifinal in January.)

Oklahoma State admitted after its 39-31 win on Saturday that their defenders knew the tells of Oregon's offensive line as to whether a play would be a pass or a run.

That apparently extends to quarterback Dante Moore, as his feet stay balanced for running plays and puts a foot forward for passing plays.

On Tuesday, Moore told reporters he was working to correct the issue.

"It just shows as a player that I have things that I need to fix, and every player has it," Moore said, via Rob Moseley of GoDucks. "It can be a great thing for a team, and I've got to make sure I just don't show it to a defense to help them get into a better check."

Moore should have been aware of the issue, but it's frankly embarrassing that Oregon's coaching staff didn't catch the problem in training camp. That could have been corrected before the team is in a crunch to prepare for their opponents during a game week.

Fortunately for Oregon, it will host Portland State on Friday, giving the coaching staff a chance to spend more time on corrections. But given the way the Ducks have started the season, they shouldn't take anything for granted.

Lanning told reporters on Monday that his staff is going to police the issue moving forward. One wonders if he or his staff would have figured the problem out had Oklahoma State not bragged about exploiting it.

The damage was done in Week 2, and Oregon has a loss on its record before getting into the Big Ten schedule.

Oregon has a lot to be coached on before it plays No. 12 USC on Sept. 26. The Ducks should be using this week to prepare for the Trojans. Instead, they have to work on the basics.
